Extraordinary View of Tropical Cyclone Bansi
An amazing, rare, and extraordinary view of Tropical Cyclone Bansi. Italian astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti captured this image aboard the International Space Station (ISS) mid January 2015 while Cyclone Bansi was over the southern Indian Ocean.
In the photo you can see how lightning reveals the cyclone’s amazing eyewall structure caused by the “stadium effect” of the light bouncing around curve of the eyewall.
